Kalshi Raises $1 Billion at $22 Billion Valuation in Landmark Funding Round
Breaking: Kalshi Secures $1 Billion in Funding at $22 Billion Valuation
Prediction market platform Kalshi has officially confirmed it raised $1 billion at a staggering $22 billion valuation. The announcement was made today, May 7, by co-founder and CEO Tarek Mansour on X.

The funding round was led by Coatue, with participation from Morgan Stanley, Sequoia, and a16z among other prominent investors. This marks one of the largest raises in the prediction market space.
“This investment validates Kalshi’s mission to bring transparent, regulated prediction markets to the masses,” said Tarek Mansour, co-founder and CEO of Kalshi. “We are thrilled to have the backing of world-class investors who share our vision.”
Background
Kalshi operates as a CFTC-regulated exchange where users can trade on the outcomes of events ranging from economic data to political elections. The platform has seen explosive growth as demand for alternative asset classes surges.
Prior to this round, Kalshi had raised over $100 million in venture capital. The new funding catapults its valuation from roughly $3 billion in its last round to $22 billion, reflecting a more than 7x increase.
What This Means
The mammoth raise signals that institutional investors are betting big on prediction markets as a mainstream financial instrument. It also intensifies competition with rival platforms like Polymarket, though Kalshi’s regulated status offers a different value proposition.

“Kalshi’s regulatory compliance gives it a unique edge in the US market,” noted Dr. Elena Torres, a financial technology analyst. “This capital will likely accelerate product development and user acquisition.”
The investment could also pave the way for more institutional participation in prediction markets, potentially expanding the market’s liquidity and credibility. As Mansour stated, the funds will be used to scale operations and enhance Kalshi’s technology stack.
“We are just scratching the surface of what prediction markets can achieve,” added Mansour. “With this backing, we can now execute on our roadmap to build the world’s most trusted event exchange.”
